Where is the Appendicular Skeleton attached to?
To the Axila skeleton through joints and muscles.
What does the bones of the Appendicular Skeleton do?
Support the appendages.
What are Appendages?
Body parts that extend from the trunk (arms and legs).
What does the Appendicular skeleton consist of?
Of the bones of the Upper limb, and shoulder girdle and those of the lower limb and pelvic girdle.
The bones of the Upper limb consist of?
The arms, forearms, wrists, hands and finger.
What is the Shoulder girdle or pectoral girdle?
A set of bone which connects to the arms on each side.
Why are these bone highly mobile?
To enhance the range of upper limb movements.
The bones of the Lower Limb consist of?
The bones of the hips, legs, thighs, ankles, feet, and toes.
What is the Pelvic Girdle?
A largely immobile bony, weight-bearing structure that provides a strong foundation for the upper body as it rests on top of the mobile lower limbs.
