10
Q

Why is humid air less dense

A

Because Air molecular weight is much more and when the WV starts occupying the space as well it makes the air less dense.

16
Q

TAS =

A

True Airspeed - the speed at which the aircraft is passing through the air

17
Q

Dynamic pressure =

A

1/2 density of the air x TAS^2

18
Q

The force generated by dynamic pressure can become?

A

very large

19
Q

If we increase density - dynamic pressure will

A

increase

20
Q

If we increase TAS - dynamic pressure will

A

increase rapidly - x4

21
Q

What is dynamic proportional to

A

IAS

22
Q

How does a IAS work

A

Basic Total Px minus Static = Dynamic

Dynamic Px enters a pitot tube and is tubed to the IAS where it goes into a capsule.
Surrounding the capsule is static Px

23
Q

What is instrument error?

A

Errors caused by the limitation of the manufacturing process

24
Q

What are Pressure errors

A

Because of the position or orientation of the pitot or static port doesn’t receive all of the airflow

25
Q

What are compression errors

A

When travelling at high speed the air can compress in the pitot tube therefore artificially raising the density

26
Q

What is CAS

A

Calibrated Airspeed - which is correct for instrument and pressure errors via an Air data computer

27
Q

What is EAS

A

Equivalent Airspeed - which is corrected for compression errors

28
Q

At low speeds what is the difference between CAS,EAS and IAS

A

Small but bigger at high speeds

29
Q

ICE Tea is Pretty Cool Drink

A

Gives the order for airspeeds
