Q

what are the three phases of plyometric exercise?

A

Eccentric (loading) amortization (transition phase), and the concentric (unloading phase)

Q

The shorter the amortization phase

A

The more effective and powerful the subsequent plyometric movement will be as the stored elastic energy is used efficiently in the transition. Because the longer the phase the stored energy is dissipated as heat, and the stretch reflex is not fully used, which results in significantly less force output.

Q

How is Plyometric volume expressed?

A

Number of foot contacts, throws, or catches. For example three sets of five squat jumps equals a volume of 15 total squat jumps (3 x 5)
