Polygyny
the marriage of a man with several women

Middle Passage
the grueling journey across the Atlantic Ocean in the slave trade
African Diaspora
the dispersion of Africans out of Africa, especially to the Americas, where enslaved Africans were able to retain certain parts of their culture
abolition
political and social changes in Europe, particularly Great Britain, that brought ideas of freedom and equality for all human beings, eventually ending the Atlantic slave Trade.

the main river of West Africa, home to the Songhay Empire
creole
