many places in the city are derelict sites. while many have been redeveloped in recent years, there are still many run down buildings. these buildings may be occupied by homeless people and drug addicts

in the past there were many jobs in city centre in small factories. however, most of these factories have moved out of the industrial estates in the suburbs

it is a big problem in many inner city areas. A lot of the crime is drug related. people steal money and goods from shops and people to pay for their drugs. the highest crime figures is in the city centre

In Dublin, in the 1960’s the inner city faced a housing shortage. young couples were encouraged to migrate to ballymun or satellite towns. the migration caused the community disruption as those who moves ost the support of their extended family. lack of support and high unemployment let to social crisis in ballymun

it is the uncontrolled rapid spread of the city outwards into the countryside.
valuable farmland is taken over by housing and roads.smaller towns and villages are absorbed by the city and become one massive urban area
