A

A

A cultural practice only for the daughters of high class wealthy families. The Chinese thought small feet was attractive so when the bones were still growing they bound the foot to stop the growth. —> forced women to depend on their husbands because footbinding left them handicap.

A

Discovered by Daoist alchamists who were looking for elixers that would prolong life. The military saw potential and the study of gunpowder chemistry spread to Europe where they later developed metal cannons. Gunpowder was a major discovery in the weapons indistry

Printing

A

Printers carved the reverse images of a full page onto a block, inked over it and pressed the paper on top. This helped to produce text fast and easy. This also could make copies in huge amounts that were avalible for everyone.

Paper Money

A

Helped the economy by putting a price on agricultural items and it was universal in China. The money was even made with serial numbers which prevented counterfiting. Paper money lead to a large input in Chinese economy.

A

Syncratism between Buddhist and Confucian teachings and themes. Inluenced east Asia and other surrounding contries. Combined philosophy, politics, and moral from both religions. Created a new fallowing that shaped China and it’s surrounding countries.

Japan

They were heavely influenced by China in the government and religion. They adopted the bureacracy to creat a more centralized governement and buddhism and confucianism. Japan still practied their own traditions along side the Chinese ideas and it still holds true today.

Heian Period

A

the political order in Japan was split between the public recongnized athourity and others who had an effected rule through influence. An aristocrate controled the throne through major influence on th imperial house and it’s members.

Resulted in longevity in the imperial house because the emperors weren’t blamed for bad things happening in the empire.

Samurai

A

They were trained profesional warriors. Japanese provincial lords relied on Samurai to enforce their rule over the land they controled, and to gain more land. Samurai practiced riding, hunting, and martial arts. For their service to their lord, they were granted land and servants to work the land.
