Character
Defined as a combination of mental behaviour and traits or qualities like thinking pattern, feeling and acting
Charisma
The quality of being able to attract, charm and influence those around you
Commencement speech
A speech given at graduation
Competence
The ability to choose a communication behavior that is both appropriate and effective for a given situation
Credibility
A judgment that the audience makes about how believable the communicator is
Goodwill speech
Communications of appreciation, congratulations or positive feedback
Logical appeals
A rational appeal uses logical arguments and factual evidence to persuade
Motivated sequence
A model of persuasive communication that’s used to issue “calls to action”
Motivational appeals
Arouse the audience to take action toward a desired goal to satisfy unmet needs or desires
Persuasion
The process by which a person’s attitudes or behaviour are, without duress, influenced by communications from other people

Interpersonal communication is the issue of formality and structure
Question of fact
The exchange of meanings between individuals through a common system of symbols
Question of value
Involves those verbal and nonverbal behaviors, enacted by communicators, that are interpreted with meaning by others

Generally persuasive as it helps answer the question ‘why’ something happens

A way of proving arguments, comes in many different forms. Different forms of reasoning are accepted in different fields and contexts
