What are the 8 Beatitudes?
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.
Blessed the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Share pain and disappointments of others Listen Respect the feelings of others Give good advice and good cheer Forgive others because they want forgiveness themselves for what they have done wrong
Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.
God is at the hub of life- he is our center
All thoughts, actions, and decisions are focused on the way God would want us to act
Don’t put money, possessions, or yourself before this^
Avoid selfishness
Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.
Forgive all wrongs
Are first to offer forgiveness
Will forgive all who have hurt us- don’t hold grudges
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

Crave what is right
Are bothered by injustice in the world, in their neighborhood
Will act to right wrongs
Pay any price to do God’s will
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.
Do the right thing even if it means people give you a hard time or make fun of you
Suffer with Jesus to make things right in the world
Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteous, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Means gentle and humble
Must be strong to be this- it’s much easier to be bossy, inconsiderate, mean, and stubborn
The gentle suffer for the love of others
In dealing with others they care, listen, forgive, and speak the truth
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.
Work for the right order of things- absence of evil and unrest
They strive to bring justice to the world
Does not mean avoiding conflict or avoiding confrontation, it means being nonviolent
First be at peace with ourselves
Accept our weaknesses and our strengths
Be happy with who we are
Realize God loves us just as we are
