How the household influences consumer behavior
some researchers see the household as the most important unit of analysis for consumer behavior because households make many more acquisition, consumption and disposition decisions than individuals do

Roles that different members play in a household decision Household members may perform a variety of tasks or roles in acquiring and consuming a product or service
Gatekeepers (Roles that household members play)
household members who collect and control information important to the decision
Influencer (Roles that household members play)
Household members who try to express their opinions and influence the decision
Decider (Roles that household members play)

Families are those with an income higher than the average in their social class
Class average
Families have an income level that is average for their social class and can therefore affort the type of symbols expected for their status
