Q

What is gas exchange surface and its features?

A

A part of the body where gas exchange happens between the body and the the environment. It has the features”
- permeable wall so that gases can easily diffuse in and out of a cell
- a large surface area
- a large supply of oxygen
- close to an efficient transport system that can take gases to a fro from the exchange surface

Q

What is goblet cells. And what is the use of the liquid it secretes

A

A group of cells that can be found in the lining (epithelium) of the digestive and respiratory system, that secrete mucus. the liquid that it secretes, contains water, which evaporates in the air and moistens the nose.

Q

What is the cilia?

A

Tiny projections from many of the cells in the lining of the respiratory passages. The cilia of many adjacent cells beat rhythmically. Bacteria and dust get trapped in them, they sweep it to the back of the throat so it doesn’t block the lungs.

Q

What is the trachea, what does the cartilage do?

A

The trachea has rings of cartilage around it, as you breath in and out, the air pressure increase and decreases. The cartilage helps to prevent the trachea from collapsing at time, when the air pressure inside is lower compared to outer.

Q
A

The trachea goes down through your neck and into the thorax. Thorax: the chest, the part of the body from the neck down to the diaphragm. In the thorax the trachea divided into bronchi, the left and right bronchi. Bronchus(singular): one of the tubes that take air form the trachea into the lungs.
The other one branches out into smaller tub called bronchus. A small tube that takes air from the brnochus to every part of the lung.

Q

What are alvoli and how does their structue hlp with gas exchange?

A

Thre are many alveoli found in the end of the bronchiles. his is where gas exchange occurs. tThe wllls of the alveloi is the gas exchange sureface. Oxygen diffuses across the walls of the alveoli to the blood. C02 diffuses across the blood, to the walls of he alveoli.

Walls of alveloi:
They are very thing, oxygen olecule only has to diffuse throug htis to reach blood,.
-
-Excelled transport system
- large surface area
- Good supply of ozyfen, your breathing movemtns keep lungs well supplyie with oxygen. Ventialtion: the movemnt of air in and out of lungs by byreathing movents
