Aphthous ulcers
Painful ulcers appearing in the oral cavity as a circular lesion with a yellow center and a red outline or halo, sometimes referred to as a canker sore
Abscess
A collection of pus in a localized area
Candida albicans
An oral yeast infection presenting as a thick, white covering on oral mucosa; also called moniliasis.
Carcinoma
Cancerous lesion of the epithelium that spreads into bone and connective tissues
Exudate
Cellular debris from an infection; the drainage of pus
Herpetic whitlow
Painful crusting ulcerations on the fingers or hands resulting from exposure to the herpes virus

Excess folds of the tissue that result from an ill-fitting denture

Malignant neoplasm beginning in supportive and connective tissue such as bones

Malignant lesion that metastasizes into surrounding tissues or into the lymph nodes of the body

Oral maxillary, mandibular, or palatial bone growths projecting outward from the surface

Disease that destroys the body’s immune system
