Chapter 1 Specialised Cells Flashcards
What is a specialised cell
A specialised cell is a cell which has adapted to do a certain and specific job better
Name the sexual reproductive cells
Sperm and egg
How has an egg cell adapted to develop and embryo better
It contains nutrients to feed the embryo
It has a haploid (split up) nucleus
Membrane changes structure to jell right amount of DNA
How has a sperm cell adapted to its job
The fun tin of a sperm cell is to carry DNA to the egg
It has a long tail so it can swim to the egg
It has lots o mitochondria to provide energy needed to swim that far
It has acrosomes in the head to be ab,e to digest the membrane of the egg cell
It also has a haploid nucleus
What are ciliated epithelia cells specialised for
Moving material
Where do epithelia cells line
The surface of organs
Give an example of where ciliated epithelia cells are used
In the lining of the airways the cells stop mucus from reaching the lungs
