Absolute location

Equator
divides earth into northern and southern hemispheres (halves)
relative location
location compared to other places

how many people live, work, and visit a place> language, customs, beliefs, economy, government
regions
group of places with at least one common characteristic
perception
a viewpoint that is influenced by one’s own culture and experiences
formal regions
areas in which certain characteristics are found throughout (political regions)
Functional regions
consist of a central place and the surrounding places affected by it
perceptual regions
feelings and attitudes about a region
