What is Dimension?
A feature that can be focused on separately, but cannot be understood without considering the other features. How dimensions interact determines behavior.
What is Multi-determined Behavior?
Behavior that develops as a result of many causes.
behaviours of any individual which are considered to be influenced by more than one variable such as genetics and environmental factors.
What is the biopsychosocial approach when it comes to personal dimensions?
systematically considers biological, psychological, and social factors and their complex interactions in understanding health, illness, and health care delivery. * Biological, psychological, and social factors exist along a continuum of natural systems, as. depicted in the diagram above.
People may start smoking for PSYCHOLOGICAL reasons, such as thinking it makes them less stressed or because of personality traits (extroverts are more likely to smoke). People may start smoking due to SOCIAL networks or perceived cultural norms.
What is environmental dimensions?
model of social work case coordination that took into account not only personal dimensions but also family, neighborhood, civic organizations, private charitable organizations, and public relief organizations.
What is Time dimensions? As well as three types of it?
Dimensions not only interact dynamically, but also change over time
Linear time, Historical era, and chronological age
What is linear time?
Time ordered sequentially from past through present to the future
What is historical era?
specific block or time period in which individuals and collective lives are enacted
What is chronological age?
How people change at different ages and life stages as they pass from birth to death
What is Past-Negative? (PN)
General negative view of the past. Actual experience of unpleasant or traumatic events.
correlates to depression, aggression, low emotional stability, low self-esteem and trait anxiety
What is Present Hedonistic? (PH)
risk taking and pleasure-oriented attitude towards life. High impluse little care for aftermath
Correlates to sensation seeking and low implus control
What is past positive? (PP)
warm and sentimental attitude towards the past
friendliness, high self-esteem, and low anixety
What is present Fatalistic? (PF)
Reveals a belief that the future is predestined and uninfluenced by individual
correlates to depression, low consideration for future
What is the global perspective?
awareness that my view of the world is not universally shared.
awareness of the diversity of ideas and practices
curiosity about conditions in other parts of the world and how they relate to our society
understanding of where I fit in the global social structure
What is globalization?
process of people becoming more interconnected economically, politically, environmentally, and culturally
What is heterogeneity?
Differences among individuals
