The process to identify, acquire and manage the resources needed for the success of the project.

What is a self-organizing team and what does PM do in this kind of team?
The team functions with an absence of centralized control. PM provides the environment and support needed to get the job done.
What are some characteristics of a virtual team?
- Team members don’t colocate.
- Communication is key to the success of the team.
- Can use special knowledge or expertise.
- Has challenges in communication, or member feeling isolation, or gaps in knowledge
What is an organizational chart in project resource management?
a top-down format to show organizational structure, relationships and reporting.
What is a matrix chart in project resource management?
it shows which resources is allocated to which activity
What is a RACI chart?
A table that shows an intersection of activity and team member.
What is Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs?
people have 5 needs type and the lower one needs to be fulfilled before the pursuit of next one.
Physiological > Safety > Social > Esteem > self Actualization
What is herzberg’s Theory of Motivation?
There are motivators and de-motivators that motivates people.
- Motivators: Rewards, promotion, etc.
- De-motivators (Hygiene agents): Poor pay, pressure
what is McGregor’s X and Y Manager Theory?
There are two types of managers, X and Y.
X is bad - it is micromanaging and no trust.
Y is good - it sees the team as capable, motivated and self-led.
What is McClellands’ Theory of Needs?
It is also called the 3 needs theory. It states that life changes experiences, then changes people’s needs.
3 Types are:
- Power - personal or institutional
- Affiliation - Harmonious, acceptance
- Achievements - Seek to excel
What is Ouchi’s Theory Z?
Japanese management style promotes lifelong employment. Workers are motivated by a sense of commitment, opportunity, and advancement.
What is Vroom’s expectancy theory?
people are likely to behave based on the belief of rewards perceived.
What is a halo effect?
One person is good at this, must be good a another. Its a fallacy.
What is a Team Charter?
its a document that establishes the team values, agreements, guildelines. It is an output for project resource management plan.
