Extrinsic vs Intrinsic Motivation
Extrinsic: external facto motivate us i.e avoid punishement, or recieve reward. (get paid, not clean dished)
Intrinsic: from oneself. i.e studyng a subject that you enjoy/like

For what type of tasks is it good to have a low vs hight level of arousal?
People perfom actions in order to mantein optimal level of arousal.
Lower levels = optimal for Highly cognitive tasks + complex tasks
High levels = optimal for physical endurance and stamina + simple tasks

motivation is based on the goal of eliminating uncomfortable states

Primary = meet biological needs
Secondary: meet emotional or learned desires

Cognitive appraisal of stress:
Stages: Primary and secondary appraisal
is the subjects evalutation of a situation that induces stress.
Primary Appraisal: can be irrelevant, benign-postive, or stressful. (if a threat move on to secondary)
Secondary Appraisal: evaluates weather subject can cope with stress. evaluates: harm/damage, threat, and future damages, or potential benefit is its overcome.
Distress vs Eustress caused by stressora
Distress: negative effect
Eustress: positive effect. i.e good mcat score, graduatin etc
what feelings are associated with:
- Left frontal cortex
- Right frontal cortex
Left: postivie feelings, joy/happiness
Right: negative feelings, sadness and disgust
