-official strike=strike is approved by trade union after secret ballot is held
-over time ban=employees refuse to work overtime
-token stoppage=employees refuse work for a short period e.g 2hrs

-Unofficial strike=Unapproved by trade union e.g no secret ballot held
-Wildcat/lightning strike=employees take action and give no prior warning to employers

INDUSTRIAL ACTION ACT 1990
-Act was introduced to improve industrial relations and to help resolve disputes
*Secret ballot=for official disputes,trade union members are required to vote in secret ballot
*Minimum Notice=A minimum of 7days notice must be given to employer
*immunity=Members can’t be sued by employer for losses caused by industrial action
