Ch.2 (Air Systems) Flashcards
Air Systems
What does the BLEED TRIP OFF (amber) light indicate?
The bleed trip sensors have automatically closed the Engine Bleed Air Valve due to bleed air high temp or high press. Bleed trip off light causes the AIR COND annunciator and Master Caution lights to illuminate.
Condition permitting, the TRIP RESET switch reset which lights?.
The bleed trip off light, ZONE TEMP, and PACK lights. This will reset the trip condition as long as the exceedances no longer exist
How does the ISOLATION VALVE operate with its switch in AUTO?
In auto, the Isolation valve is positioned by switching the Engine bleed and Pack switches. Placing any one of these switches in OFF will automatically open the isolation valve. Isolation valve will be closed when:
- both engine bleed switches are ON and/or
- both pack switches are in AUTO or HIGH.
What precautions apply with the APU Bleed Valve when an engine bleed valve is open?
Possibility of engine bleed air back pressure to the APU if the APU Check valve fails
When does the DUAL BLEED (amber) light illuminate?
APU bleed air valve is open and either engine bleed switch is positioned ON
What does the WING-BODY OVERHEAT (amber) light indicate?
An overheat has been detected. AIR COND annunciator and MASTER CAUTION also illuminate.
A single pack in high flow mode is capable of maintaining pressurization and acceptable
temperatures throughout the aircraft up to what altitude?
Max certified ceiling. FL410.
Which valve pneumatically modulates to control airflow into the respective air conditioning pack based on air conditioning demands?
The pack valves. (Flow control and shutoff valves)
When does a pack automatically switch to high air flow?
- With one pack not operating, the other pack auto switches to high airflow. This is
inhibited on the ground and in the air with flaps extended to maintain adequate
engine power for single engine operation. - Both Engine bleed switches OFF and APU bleed switch ON regardless of air/ground
status or number of packs operating.
How do the Recirculation fans operate with both RECIRC FAN switches in AUTO, and both
PACK switches in AUTO?
Both recirc fans are on on the ground and in the air.
Where do air recirculation fans draw air from?
- Left: Air condition distribution compartment
- Right: Cabin air through the floor grilles on each side of the passenger cabin.
What does illumination of a ZONE TEMP (amber) light indicate?
- Supply duct over heat (associated Trim air modulating valve closes)
- Failure of both primary and standby temperature controls
- During Master Caution recall, indicates a failure of the primary or standby temp
control (Auto switch the the back up in this case)
How do you position PACK switches when using external conditioned air?
Pack switches OFF
What controls the temperature of conditioned air from an external source?
The external air conditioner temp control
Packs produce air temperature to satisfy which zone?
The zone that is set to the lowest temperature
