Ch.14 (Landing Gear) Flashcards
Landing Gear
What does positioning the landing gear lever to OFF do?
Removes hydraulic pressure from the landing gear system
What is the purpose of the lever lock override trigger?
To bypass the landing gear lever lock in certain conditions
A gear position light is not illuminated with the landing gear lever in the down position. The supplemental gear position light is green, what is the gear position?
down and locked
What is the purpose of the landing gear transfer valve? Which fluid is used to operate the gear?
To supply the volume of hydraulic fluid needed to raise the landing gear at the normal rate when HYD SYS A engine driven pump volume is lost. HYD SYS B fluid is used
What effect does the manual extension access door have on the landing gear?
Normal landing gear retraction is disable if this door is left open
What does pulling a manual gear extension handle do?
Releases the respective landing gears mechanical uplock, allowing the gear to freefall
The landing gear configuration aural warning (horn) cannot be silenced beyond which flap setting?
beyond flaps 10
What supplies pressure to the alternate brake system if normal brake system pressure is lowor fails?
HYD SYS A automatically supplies pressure when normal braking pressure is low or failed
How is braking available if both HYD systems A and B are lost?
Brake accumulator. Provides 6 braking applications or parking brake pressure for 8
hours
Which brake system(s) provide(s) skid, locked wheel protection, touchdown protection and hydroplane protection?
Both normal and Alternate braking systems
When does RTO braking automatically begin during a rejected takeoff?
When the forward thrust levers are retarded to idle after reaching 90 kts wheelspeed
Landing with the Autobrake set to RTO results in what level of braking?
No autobraking will occur
What is the difference between Autobrake 1,2,3 and max?
Increases the rate of deceleration (kts/sec)
What effect does the thrust revers and spoiler deployment have on the autobraking rate?
No effect on the auto braking deceleration rate. Pressure is reduced to maintain the
selected deceleration rate
How is the autobrake system disarmed after braking begins?
- Autobrake switch to OFF
- Brake pedal pressed
- Thrust lever moved out of IDLE position after having been on the ground for 3 +
seconds - A fault in the Autobrake/antiskid systems
- Speed brake lever movement from UP to DOWN
