What does AU stand for?
Assistance Unit
What is an Assistance Unit (AU)?
It is made up of a group of related persons who are living in the same home and have been determined eligible for CALWORKS.
What is the BIG MAP?
The BIG MAP is the FIling Unit. This consists of members of the AU and certain NON_AU members.
What is the Assistance Unit?
This is the LITTLE MAP that consists of those that are determined to be qualified for CALWORKS.
What must the AU require to be included?
The AU must include an eligible child to qualify.
What is the age of a child for CALWORKS?
Must be 18 or younger OR turned 19 and still in high school or trade school
Who is EXCLUDED from the AU?
Excluded by law.
Employment Services sanctioned.
Timed-Out.
Intentional Program Violator (IPV)
What must the AU be required to have in the LITTLE MAP?
At least one of the following:
child.
SSI/SSp child.
Child eligible for federal foster care.
A Kin-Gap child
What is considered a Caretaker Relative?
They must be blood, marriage, adoption, or domestic partner
Define Caretaker definition.
Related to the child.
A non-parent must be at least 18 years old.
The eligible child must be living at home.
for a caretaker relative what responsibilities do they have?
They are responsible for the well being of the child.
The child’s education.
The discipline of the child.
The religious, cultural and social well-being of the child.
What form is used to see if person qualifies for 5 degrees of kinship to child?
07-224 form
If the caretaker relative is needy what are they required to do?
They will be required to participate in the Employment Services (ES) unless exemption exists AND cooperate with Department of Child Support Services and assign support rights.
Is documentation needed to show kinship to child for caretaker relative?
Yes, birth certificates, marriage license, etc can count.
What is the pregnancy AU?
It is ONE
