It stands for Annual Reporting Child Only system
What does AR/Co mean?
AR/CO means that there are NO parents/adults receiving aid. ONLY the CHILD is receiving cash aid.
Is CalWORKS subject to SARS?
YES except AR/CO
When are benefits frozen for CALWORKS?
Benefits are frozen for the payment period/year EXCEPT:
WHen a Mandatory mid-period or mid year report results in a decrease or discontinuance of benefits.
When a Voluntary mid-year or mid period report results in increased benefits.
When a County initiated action results in decreased benefits.
When a recipient requests a discontinuance.
What are reporting changes?
Under SAR and AR/CO SYSTEM RECIPIENTS ARE REQUIRED TO REPORT ONLY CERTAIN CHANGES MID-PERIOD AND MID-YEAR.
CUSTOMER MAY REPORT CHANGES IN WRITING, FAX, EMAL, PHOME OR IN PEERSON.
ALL CUSTOMERS CONTACT ARE REPORTED CHANGES MUST BE CLEARLY DOCUMENTED IN CASE COMMENTS AND/OR HELD CHANGES.
WHAT ARE MANDATORY MID-PERIOD REPORTS FOR SAR?
FLEEING FELON STATUS.
VIOLATION OF CONDITIONS OF PROBATION OR PAROLE.
ADDRESS CHANGE.
WHEN INCOME EXCEEDS THE IRT.
When must Mandatory mid-period reports to be reported to HSS?
10 calendar days.
For AR/CO what are mandatory mid-year reports?
Fleeing felon status.
Violation of conditions of probation or parole.
Address change.
Household composition change.
When must AUs report earned income exceeding IRT?
10 calendar days
Are AUs required to report income exceeding IRT when they have NO earned income ONLY unearned income that exceeds IRT?
NO
WHEn must a pregnancy report when they give birth but does not have a live birth?
30 days
What are voluntary reports ?
Increase in unearned income.
Discontinuance of benefits.
Income increase (less than IRT)/decreases.
PREGNANCY/SPECIAL NEEDS.
WHEN WILL HSS TAKE ACTION FOR A VOLUNTARY REPORT?
PROVIDE INCREASE IN BENFITS.
REQUEST FOR DISCONTINUANCE.
Multiple changes at the same time, changes must be made separately and sequentially.
Workers will NOT act on voluntary changes that result in a DECREASE.

If a verbal request for discontinuance what must happen?
HSS to discontinue cash aid at the end of the month in which a 10 day notice can be provided.
WHat if a discontinuance is made in writing to HSS?
NO 10 day notice is required even if benefits will decrease for the remaining AU members.
