What are the two types of recruiting?
Internal recruiting (hiring current employees) and external recruiting (hiring new talent).
What is internal recruiting?

What is external recruiting?

What is employer branding?

What is job analysis?
A process that identifies job tasks and qualifications to ensure the right hire.
What are the 3 steps of HR planning?
- Forecast demand (How many employees do we need?) 2. Analyze supply (Do we have enough talent internally?) 3. Balance supply & demand (Hire or train employees accordingly).
What is a Realistic Job Preview (RJP)?
A clear and honest view of a job, showing both positives and challenges to prevent turnover.
Why are Realistic Job Previews (RJP) useful?
Reduce turnover, set clear expectations, and improve long-term job satisfaction.
What is a tight labour market?
When there are few job seekers and many job openings (harder to hire).
What is a loose labour market?
When there are many job seekers but fewer jobs (easier to hire).
What is Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO)?
When companies outsource recruitment to external hiring agencies.
What are passive job seekers?
People who aren’t looking for jobs but may accept a great opportunity.
What are three common external recruiting methods?
Job boards (Indeed, LinkedIn, Monster), recruitment agencies, and social media hiring.
What is re-recruiting?
Keeping relationships with former employees to see if they would return.
What is the difference between job enlargement and job enrichment?
Enlargement = More tasks, Enrichment = More responsibility.
What are the key factors that affect recruitment strategy?
Employer branding, labour market conditions, recruiting speed, and cost.
What is person-job fit?
Matching a candidate’s skills and experience to the job’s requirements.
What is person-organization fit?
Ensuring a candidate aligns with the company’s values and culture.
Why do companies use employee referrals?
Faster hiring, better cultural fit, and higher retention rates.
What are the disadvantages of internal recruiting?
Limits new ideas, causes internal competition, and may lead to bias.
What are the disadvantages of external recruiting?
Higher costs, longer hiring time, and risk of poor cultural fit.
Why is social media useful for recruiting?
Reaches younger candidates, builds employer brand, and finds passive job seekers.
