Ecosystem
All of the organisms living in an area together with their physical environment.
Biotic Factor
All the living organisms including animals, fungi, bacteria, and plants.
Abiotic Factor
Nonliving parts of an organism such as air, water, rocks, sand, light, etc.
Organism
An individual living thing.
Species
A group of organisms that can mate to produce fertile offsprings.
Population
A group of the same species that live in the same area.
Community
A group of various species that live in the same place.
Habitat
The place where an organism lives.
Natural Selection
A process where individuals that are better adapted to their environment for survival.
Evolution
A change in genetics of a population from one generation to the next.
Adaptation
An inherited trait that increases an organisms chance of survival and reproduction in a certain environment.
Artificial Selection
Selective Breeding of organisms by humans to generate specific traits.
Resistance
The ability of an organism to tolerate a chemical designed to kill it.
Archaea
Found in extreme places, and differ from bacteria in genetics and makeup of their cell wall.
Bacteria
Very common and can be found in many places, including soil and animal bodies.
