What is a Black Box Warning?
Given on a drug if a pattern of adverse drug events emerge- must be presented to patient before administration/prescription
Class I: most serious- associated w/ death/serious events
Class II: Less severe, effects may be temporary or reversible
Class III: least severe, not likely to result in any significant health problems
What are controlled substances and what is a Schedule I rating mean?
Have a high risk of abuse
Schedule C-I: high abuse protential, never used medically (herion)
Explain Negligence
failure to provide care that a reasonable and prudent nurse would have rendered under similar circumstances
Explain malpractice
Special type of negligence/failure of a professional/individual with specialized education and training to act in a reasonable and prudent manner
