A mature follicle burts and releases egg into oviduct
What are the stages leading to implantation?
- Ovulation: mature follicle busts
- Fertilisation: A sperm nucleus fuses with the gg nucleus
- Zygote divides
- Ball of cells is formed
- Ball keeps dividing
- Implantation
Explain the menstrual cycle hormones
Four hormones involved (FSH, LH, progesterone, oestrogen)
- FSH and LH produced in pitutary gland
- FSH, LH produced immediately
- FSH causes follicle to develope
- Follicle produces oestrogen
- Oestrogen thickens wall uterus
- Follicle bursts
- LH produced
- Ovulation happens
- Reduces oestrogen level
- Follicle produces progesterone
- Progesterone inhibits pitutary gland
