Ch 15 Flashcards
Endogenous antigen
Class I MHC, a peptide that shows what’s going on inside the cell
Exogenous antigen
Class II MHC, display fragments that also include what has been ingested by phagocytosis
B cells mature in
Bone marrow
Naïve B cells are found in the
Lymph nodes and are mature. They contain receptors similar to antibodies (with unique binding region)
B-cell progression
B-cell -> naïve B cell -> ingest antigen -> B cell activated after confirmation from T cell -> turns into plasma or (some) memory B cells
IgM
First antibodies on site, 5 Y linked together (penta), too large to cross placenta, can activate complement
IgG
Greatest immune response! Longest half-life, second ones to be made when IgM code changes, monomers - can cross the placenta, can activate complement, Opsonins
IgA
Dimers
IgE
Opsonins
