-substance abuse disorders

3-5x more likely to be diagnosed then women

Things that contribute to Antisocial Personality Disorder?
-genetic influence
-socioeconomically “Deprived” circumstances
-Biological Influence (deficits in verbal skills and in executive functions of the brain, exposure toxins)
What are some problems with trying to treat antisocial personality disorder?
ASPD typically do not see a problem with their behavior
-lack of motivation to change
-tendency to deception and manipulation
-inability to see the world from the perspective of others
What is the therapy focus for ASPD?
recognize triggers, develop alternative coping strategies
