What is FNSD
functional neurological symptom disorder: marked by a sudden loss of functioning in a part of the body, usually following an extreme psychological stressor
What is somatic symptom disorder?
significant focus on physical symptoms that distresses the individual and impact their functioning of daily life
What is illness anxiety?
preoccupation with having or acquiring a serious illness. performs excessive health-related behaviors (checking for illness) or exhibits maladaptive avoidance (avoiding doctor appointments)
What is Factitious?
pretending to be physically or psychologically ill, deceptive behavior is evident even in the absence of obvious external rewards
What is factitious disorder imposed on another?
falsification of physical or psychological signs or symptoms of another person (gypsess’ mom)
What is malingering?
intentional production of false or grossly exaggerated physical or psychological symptoms, different from factitious disorder as it is motivated by external incentives such as avoiding work, obtaining drugs,
What are the symptoms of dissociative identity?
disruption of identity characterized by two or more distinct personality states. recurrent gaps in recall of everyday events
What is dissociative amnesia?
forgetting traumatic or stressful autobiographical memories that is inconsistent with ordinary forgetting
What is the difference between psychogenic and organic amnesia?
Psych: caused by psych factors, is usually only retrograde amnesia for personal info not general
Organic: biological factors, can include anterograde amnesia, retrograde amnesia for personal and general information
What are the symptoms for depersonalization/derealization disorder?
the presence of persistent or recurrent experiences of depersonalization or derealization
What is depersonalization?
experiences of unreality, detachment, outside observer with respect to one’s thoughts, feelings, sensations
