What is required to become a private pilot?

A

ALMEET
- Age - 17 years or older
- Language - Be able to read, write, and speak the - English language
- Medical - Hold at least a current third class medical
- Experience - Meet applicable and required aeronautical experience requirements
- Endorsement - Receive required ground and flight training endorsements
- Test - Pass the appropriate knowledge test (70% or above)

How do you remain current as a private pilot?

A
  • Flight review every 24 months with an instructor and receive an endorsement
  • 3 takeoffs and landings in the previous 90 days in the same class, category, and type if required (if conventional gear, must be full stop)
  • If passengers are to be carried at night, those takeoffs and landings must be full stop, between 1 hour after sunset to 1 hour before sunrise

What is the difference between a 100 hour inspection and an annual inspection?

A

In terms of maintenance provided, nothing. However, only an A&P mechanic with an Inspection Authorization (IA) can perform an annual, while a regular A&P mechanic can perform a 100 hour.

An annual CAN take place of a 100 hour, but not the other way around.

What is a special flight permit?

A

A temporary permit that gives temporary airworthiness to an aircraft that does not have current airworthy status. Can be used to move a plane to another airport for inspections or maintenance.
