centre of mass Flashcards
1
Q
define centre of mass
A
the ppoint at which the distribution of mass is equal in all directions
can also be defined as the point of balance
2
Q
what are the factors that affect stability
A
- the height of the centre of mass
- position of the line of gravity
- area of the support base
- mass of the performer
3
Q
how can we alter the factors affecting stability to increase stability
A
- the lower the centre of mass - the greater the stability
- the further the line of gravity from the central position the less stability
- the wider the support base the greater the stability
- the larger the mass of the performer - the greater the inertia and therefore the greater the stability
