- mass of the object
- the distribution of mass around the axis
-the closer the mass is to the axis of rotation, the easier it is to turn, and therefore moment of inertia is low and angular velocity is high
-the further the mass is to the axis of rotation, the harder it is to turn, therefore moment of inertia is high and angular velocity is low
