Cell size Flashcards
There is a limit to how large individual cells can grow, why?
Because each cell obtains everything it requires through its cell membrane using diffusion.
The smaller the cell the faster it will grow
If the cell structures are far from the cell membrane, what will happen?
the further the structures that need oxygen are from the cell membrane, the longer it takes for the oxygen to reach cell. It will be not so active, and the size of the cell will be big.
If the cell structures are close to the cell membrane, what will happen?
when the structure is close to the cell membrane, the oxygen will reach the cell faster. the size of the cell will be small and the cell will be more active so it will require more oxygen.
