Cell parts and there Function Flashcards
What are the cell parts?
Cell membranes, it’s found in plant and animal cell
Cytoplasm, it’s found in the plant cell and the animal cell
The nucleolus, it’s found in the plant and animal cell
Nucleus, it’s found in the plant and animal cell
Mitochondria, it’s found in the plant and animal cell
The endoplasmic reticulum, it’s found in the animal cell
A temporary vacuole, it’s found in the animal cell
Cell wall, it’s found in the plant cell
Large permanent vacuole, it’s found in the plant cell
Chloroplast, it’s found in the plant cell
What is the function of the cell membrane?
The cell membrane controls what goes in and out of the cell through channels. it has a special structure that allows certain types of chemicals to pass through easily while others do not pass through at all. The special channels which the cell can control and limit what passes through and when it passes through and whether it moves into or out of the cell
What is the function of the nucleus?
Contains the genetic material of the cell and controls the cell’s activities
What is the function of the cytoplasm?
This fluid fills up the cell. In this fluid energy is transferred, substances are made, and food is stored.
What is the function of the endoplasmic reticulum?
Assists in the production of proteins, fats, and oils.
What is the function of the chloroplast?
The chloroplast contains chlorophyll, and it is where photosynthesis occurs, allowing plants to use the sun’s energy to make glucose.
What is the function of the mitochondria?
Mitochondria supplies the cell with energy and it is the site of cellular respiration.
What is the function of the cell wall?
The cell wall has a tough outside layer which makes the cell rigid, and it supports the cell
What is the function of the large permanent vacuole?
The large permanent vacuole is a very large cavity filled with a watery fluid called cell sap. The vacuole acts like an inflated balloon keeping the cell firm.
What is the function of the nucleolus?
The nucleolus makes the organelles that produce protein
What is the function of the temporary vacuole?
It is like a little sac in which some substances are stored for a while
