Cell Biology 2. R Flashcards
What subcellular structures are found in a Plant cell
Cell wall,cell membrane,permanent vacuole,chloroplasts,Cyctoplasm,nucleus,ribosomes
What do chloroplasts do
Chloroplasts absorb light to make food (glucose) by photosynthesis
What does a permanent vacuole do
Vacuoles are filled with cell sap which supports the plant
What does the cell wall do
The cell wall is made of cellulose which strengthens the cell wall
What are the two main types of cell
Eukaryotic
Prokaryotic
What type of cells are any, animal, and fungal cells
Eukaryotic
What is an example of a prokaryotic cell
A bacterial cell
What are the differences between eukaryotic and prokaryotic
In a prokaryotic cell the genetic material is not inside the nucleus
In addition prokaryotic cells have generic material in a single DNA loop and there may be one or more small rings of DNA called plasmids
Prokaryotic a do not contain mitochondria or chloroplasts
In bacterial cells what takes over the jobs of the mitochondria and chloroplasts
The cyctoplasm
What can plasmids be transferred between
One cell to another
What do plasmids allow bacterial cells to do
Move genes from one cell to another
