- Drs - cocaine, dipipanone, diamorphine for treating addiction only if a licence has been obtained from the Home office
Who can prohibit possession/Rx/admin/manuf/supplying of CDs?

Prescription Requirements for Sch 2 & 3 CDs for human use
1) Be written so as to be indelible
2) Signed by person issuing it with usual signature or ‘advanced electronic signature’
3) Prescriber’s address (except for a health Rx)
4) If issued by a dentist, must state the words ‘for dental Tx only’
5) Name and address of patient
6) Specify the dose
7) Form of the medicine (if CD is a preparation)
8) Strength of the medicine if 1+ available
9) Total quantity/number of dosage units in words and figures
10) Date

Prescription Requirements for FP10MDAs (instalment directions)
- same legal requirements for a CD Rx
- max 14 days Tx Rx
- must include an INSTALMENT DIRECTION:
1. amount of medicine per instalment
2. interval between each instalment - marked with each date of dispensing
instalment direction and the dose on FP10MDA
** LEGAL requirement that the instalment direction and the dose are specified separately on Rx
start date on FP10MDA
- does not have to specify a start date
- if it doesn’t, 1st dispensing must be within 28 days of the date and then instalments run as specified even if this is beyond the 28 day validity
- if start date specified, must be complied with and the instalments run from that date

- any Schedule 2 CD
- buprenorphine
- buprenorphine/suboxone
- diazepam

- if wording is different from the approved wording from Home Office, doesn’t provide pharmacist security
repeat Rx for CDs
Sch 2 & 3 = NOT allowed
can have repeats for Sch 4
- applies to private and NHS Rxs
validity of repeat Rx in Sch 4 and 5
Sch 4 - 1st dispensing must be within 28 days of the appropriate date
Sch 5 - 1st dispensing within 6 months
- no time limit to subsequent dispensing of the repeats on a private prescription
what errors can pharmacist amend on Sch 2 & 3 Rx
- minor typographical errors
- minor spelling mistakes
- if the quantity is missing in words or figures (but not both)
Dispensing may only take place if technical error if…
- pharmacist as exercised all due diligence and believes on reasonable grounds the Rx is genuine
- pharmacist exercised all due diligence and believes they are supplying the drug in accordance with the intention of prescriber
- pharmacist amends the Rx in ink/otherwise indelibly to correct the mistakes and adds either total quantity in words or figures as necessary
- pharmacist marks Rx to show they have made amendment (e.g. name, date, signature, GPhC no.)
