Purpose of the system
A
- Removes heat from the plant components during power operations, plant cooldown, plant shutdown, and during postulated post-accident conditions.
- Provides cooling to the RCP motors and thermal barrier heat exchangers.
- Provides cooling to safety-related equipment.

- RCV-609 is gaggged open to prevent over pressurization of the CCW system.
- CC-707 serves as secondary relief
- Relief valves sized to relieve maximum flowrate following rupture of the RCP thermal barrier cooling coil
