Catholic Social Teaching Flashcards
What is the catholic social teaching?
This is the group of principles the Catholic Church has formed which deal with issues of social justice, poverty and the dignity of people.
What is their aim?
The Church wants to work for social justice which is the aim to achieve a fair society for every person.
Their aim is that everyone has access to the same basic essentials like clean water and equal opportunities.
Being in the image of God.
As christians believe that everyone is created in the image of God, everyone should be treated equally and have the same opportunities/chances in life.
evidence in the bible
“God made mankind in his image”
“Treat others the way you want to be treated”
How can this change a catholics life?
Catholics will try to work for the common good and put the poor first. This is a reason why Catholics may donate money to CAFOD or give up their time to work for charities.
Catholics will campaign to uphold and protect human rights through going on peaceful marches or writing to their MP.
