what is the core of of Catholic social teaching?
*The core of Catholic social teaching is the belief that every human is creation imago dei and so has dignity and sancity of life which needs to be upheld
*Poverty, inequality and injustice are seen as attacks on human life and therefore the Catholic Church calls for people to work for the common good and put the poor first.
Why do Catholics believe in justice and peace?
•the bible says “blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called to be children of God”
•In Gaudium et spes the Church teaches that Catholics need to right the wrongs that injustice causes and must “uphold with dignity and justice”
•Catholics believe they have a duty to uphold peace
How do Catholics try to promote peace?
•To achieve real peace, Catholics promote reconciliation - this is the act of bringing individuals or groups together in harmony after conflict.
•It allows people to move on with their lives and removes long lasting issues.
