Radical opacification in cortex of lens either anterior or posterior

In posterior lens adjacent to capsule
Steroid induce, intraocular inflm. DM, trauma
Clinical features of cataracts?
- Gradual, painless, progressive decrease in vision
- Glare, dimness , halos around light at night
- “Second sight” phenomenon
How to diagnose cataract patient?
Slit-lamp exam, changes in red reflex
Treatment of cataract?
- Surgical
I. Extra capsular cataract extraction (ECCE)
II. Phacoemulsification aspiration
III. Intracapsular cataract extraction (ICCE)
IV. Lens aspiration
Post-operative complication?
- Retinal detachment
- Endothalmitis
- Macula edema
- Glaucoma
