Q

How are fold mountains, like The Alps, formed?

A

Rivers carry sediment, which is known as a geosyncline, and the sediment accumulates on the sea bed. The geosyncline fills with sediment compressed into rock and the plates begin to move, then it begins to compress. there is continued compression from plate movement and sediment become folded into fold mountains.
