Q

Strengths of case studies

A
  • in-depth, qualitative results in realism
  • holistic approach, depth and detail is very valid and reflects a persons experience
  • research might not exist if case study’s didn’t occur as they are often used t investigate unusual/ extreme behaviour which cant be replicated due to ethical reasons

Q

Weaknesses of case study’s

A
  • social desirability bias, make themselves look good for interviewer
  • inaccurate - based on memories
  • cannot be generalised - one person experience and behaviour may be due to other factors
  • lacks reliability - cannot be replicated
  • researcher bias - researcher decided what to include/exclude when writing up potentially only including data that confirms a bias
