How to spot a muscular artery on histology?
Elastic fibres are found just under the interior elastic lumina IEL and the outer elastic lumina - OEL
How to tell an elastic artery?
Lots of blue elastic fibres
How to tell an arteriole?
No T.adventitia
Look at page 89 of booklet to see the artery histology`
Ok
If an artery is conducting - will it be elastic or muscular? Give an example of a conduction artery
Aorta/Pulmonary trunk - conduction and elastic
If its a distrubuting artery - will it be elastic of muscular? Name a distro artery.
Radial/femorals - distro and muscular
What tissue predominates in the T.media of arterioles?
CT
What will cardiac muscle look like on histology?
Striated with intercalated disks
What will skeletal muscle look like on histology?
Vertical striations with nuclei dotted about and NO IC disks
What will smooth muscle look like on histology?
No striations - wavy like - nuclei dotted about
