Cardiovascular - Wet Room 4 Flashcards
What does the cardiac plexus reroute into the heart to innervate it?
Vagus p.sympathetic nerves and T1-T4 sympathetic nerves
Where is the cardiac plexus?
At the bifurcation of the trachea
What do the motor fibres innervate in the heart wall?
Nodes - SA and AV nodes
What are the nodes?
Modified cardiac muscle cells called purkinje cells that can generate electrical impulses
What are the fibres of the AV node called?
Purkinje fibres
Where should the SA node be?
Near the opening of the superior vena cava in the RA
Where should the AV node be?
In the inferior part of the interatrial septum
Where does the AV bundle of his lie?
Within each side of the ventricular septum
Name the conduction pathway of the heart then/
SA - AV - Bundle of His - Purkinje fibres
