Cardiovascular - Wet Room 2 Flashcards
Where are the left and right auricles?
Right - RA
Left - LA
What do the auricles do?
Increase capacity of atrium
What chamber is at the base of the heart posteriorly?
LA
What chamber forms the apex of the heart (anterior)
LV
What veins drain into the RA and need openings?
Superior vena cava
Inferior vena cava
Coronary sinus
What is the fossa ovalis and what chamber is it in?`
A small indent in the RA which is the remnant of the foreman ovale in a foetus
What does a foreman ovale do in a foetus?
Allows oxygenated blood coming from the umbillicus to bypass pulmonary circulation
RA to LA
Where is the musculi pectinati in the RA?
On the inside of the wall
What valve seperates the RA and RV?
Tricuspid valve
What attaches to the tricuspid valve?
Chordinae tendinae and papilliary muscles
What artery leaves the RV and what valve does it have??
Pulmonary trunk and pulmonary valve
Where is the moderator band and what does it do?
Near papilliary muscles - can’t tell shit from this diagram
Part of electrical conduction
Is the RV wall or the LV wall thicker and by how many times thicker is it? Why is it thicker?
LV wall - 3x - thicker as blood is pumped around the whole body from this ventricle
How many papillary muscles are found in the right atrium? Why?
3 as its a tripcuspid valve - 1 for each cusp
How many papillary muscles in the LV?
2 as mitral valve is bicuspid
