what is cardio vascular disease
a term used to describe diseases of the heart or blood vessels
What is coronary heart disease
Is when the coronary arteries that supply blood to the muscles of the heart get blocked by layers of fatty material
how can coronary heart disease lead to a heart attack
the arteries become more narrow so blood flow is restricted and there is a lack of oxygen
what are stents and what are they used for
tubes that are inserted inside the arteries to keep them open to make sure blood passes through to the heart muscles and keeps the person alive

the risk if having a heart attack for people with coronary disease
what is the risk of complications with stents during surgery
it can risk infection and risk of developing a blood clot

drugs that can reduce the amount of bad cholesterol in the bloodstream

an essential lipid that your body produces in order to function properly
what can having too much bad cholesterol lead to
fatty deposits to form inside the arteries leading to coronary heart disease
what are the advantages of statins
they reduce the risk of strokes, coronary heart disease and heart attacks
they increase the amount if good cholesterol in the bloodstream
some studies suggest it may also help prevent other diseases
what are disadvantages of statin
long term drug that must be taken regularly m some may forget to take them
some serious side effects like kidney failure, liver damage and memory loss
the effect of statin isnt instant and take time to kick in
