-swelling (fluid in alveoli/consolidation of air sacs with fluid and pus)=increased thickness of alveolar walls=reduced concentration of oxygen for diffusion
-coughing=phlegm production

-increased WOB/SOB
-low oxygen sats
-high RR/HR
-xray= white areas of consolidation
