MOA and use of Carbopenems (Merrem)
MOA: Bactericidal, inhibits cell wall
USE: Anaerobic coverage (Bacteroids species), Gramp pos cocci, Gram negative bacteria, UTI, PNA, Intra abdominal, skin and soft tissue
Carbopenem (Merrem) avoid use and SE
Avoid use is atypicals
SE: Elevated LFTs, leukopenia, and seizures
Glycopeptide (Vancomycin) MOA and use
MOA: Bactericidal, binds to cell wall
USE: Gram pos cocci and bacilli, MRSA, MRSE, and ampicillin resistant enterococci, IV for bacteremia, endocarditis, and osteo
PO for c.diff
Glycopeptide (Vancomycin) avoid use and SE
Avoid use in MSSA and gram negatives
SE: Ototoxicity, nephrotoxicity, red mans syndrome, thrombocytopenia, and neutropenia
Lipoglycopeptide (Daptomycin) MOA and use
MOA: Bactericidal inhibits cell wall
USE: Gram positive, Vanco resistant strains, bacteremia, endocarditis
Lipoglycopeptide (Daptomycin) avoid use and SE
Avoid use in pneumonia
SE: C diff., superinfection, thrombocytopenia, and rhabdomyolysis
