Can food grade CBD oil be purchased form pharmacies? What must be assured prior to this?
Yes - a Certificate of Analysis from the supplier must be acquired to ensure there is no THC in the oil
What regulatory body are CBD oil products regulated by?
The Food Standards Agency - also means they cannot make health benefit claims
What must be carried out by relevant HCPs in hospitals if patients bring in their own CBD oil for use in care?
Carry out a risk assessment on a case-by-case basis
What is Sativex and what is it used to treat?
Used in multiple sclerosis (MS) and comes in an oromucosal spray containing CBD and THC
What is Epidyolex and what is it used to treat?
An oral solution containing CBD and licensed for treatment of seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, or Dravet syndrome in patients aged 2 years or older
What is the current prescribing status and method of CBPMs?
Initial Rx of CBPMs (excluding Nabilone, Sativex) must be made by specialist medical practitioner (i.e. Dr included in the register of specialist medicinal practitioners)
