Calcium channel blockers Flashcards
1
Q
verapamil (Calan) Diltiazem (Cardizem)
A
pharm class: non-dihydropyridines of a calcium channel blocker
MOA: dilates arteries and veins (BV and heart)
decreases calcium in the SA node
decreases heart rate
decrease force in contraction
AE: suppression in cardiac function
vasodilates the smooth muscle
don’t take with Digoxin
2
Q
Nifedipine (Adalat)
amlodopine (Plendil)
Nicardipine (Cardene)
A
pharm class: dihydropyridine
MOA: calcium channel blocker
cc’s blocked = vasodilation = decrease in BP
increases HR and intractability
decreases resistance,= decreases afterload = decreases heart work
