antidysrhythmics Flashcards
Lidocaine
pharm class: Antidysrymics
MOA: blocks sodium channels and slows down the conduction in nodes and myocytes
accelerates repolarization might shorten QT slightly
Sotalol (Betaspace)
pharm class: antidysrymics
MOA: slows down Ca2+ influx and prolongs repolarization by delaying K+ outflow from myocytes and nodes
CI: Serum potassium less than 4 mEq/L
Long QT interval
amiodarone (Cordaone)
pharm class: antidysrymics (class III)
MOA: blocks potassium channels (slow repolarization)
slows down SA, slows down conduction, slows down contractility
TOXICITY: dirty med, blue-grey skin discoloration, heart failure
adenosine (adenocard) nucleotide
pharm class: antidysrymics
MOA: inhibits calcium influx in nodes
treatment choice of supraventricular tachycardia
decrease AV node, decrease SA automaticity
TX: give bolus half-life 5 seconds
